Gene Newman, owner of WBEZ and WSMQ, began his career in the 1950’s. Discusses the frequency swaps between WEZB and WBCO that created WENN 1320 and WYAM 1450 in 1958.

Billy Cliff Evans (b. Dec 12, 1924, d. Apr 5, 2004), announcer at WJLD in the mid 1940’s. Billy shares recollections of early broadcasting from Bessemer radio stations. Became treasurer of the Bessemer History Center.

Lora Gary (b. Jan 6, 1927, d. Mar 26, 2010) remembers the 1950’s and her time at WBCO and later WJLD, where she had a noon jazz show.
