Box 1 Folder 22: "Next is box 1 number 22, which is a picture of the Kelly Choral Singers and we have Norman Wooding Jr and William McKinstrey who later went on to broadcast at WJLD, and this from 1944, the back of the picture describes a great deal of the history of the group. Correction this should be 1945. But everything else is correct, it lists the members of the group, that information given to us by Norman Wooding II, and the sponsorship of the radio station noting that the group started in the spring of 1943 and was singing at City Hall in Bessemer. When JLD was in the city hall building which would have been between 1945 and 47, but the group started in 1943. And they were mostly from Docina, which was a mining camp on Red Mountain. It’s a great picture given to us by Norman Wooding Jr so we could make a copy of it."
