Title
Music Memories and Jazz Report, Covering All Phases of Music Collecting
Description
Box 4 Folder 27: "Moving along, we are at folder 27 which is a 39 page 6" x 8" booklet entitled Music Memories and Jazz Report, Vol 4, No. 2, and published in Birmingham. Volume 4 would mean they began in 1961. We don’t know who they were but they had a jazz catalogue where you could write away for singles, albums, and I think they sold 78 albums as well. This booklet promoted record collecting. This was put out by the Music Memories/Vulkan Record Company, 314 Windsor Drive in Birmingham, AL. I don’t recognize any of the local names but Art Hodes sounds familiar. It’s a beautiful booklet that contains articles on jazz, contains some wonderful albums. Found antiquing by Bob Friedman."

This magazine was published by Patrick Cather, who still lives in Birmingham. I recommend you contact him, as he knows a lot about blues and jazz and made some recordings of Birmingam musicians (and also knew the R&B disc jockeys). He is not in the best of health.
